Bay rovers 3-2 Lismore AET
Our U12’s made the long trip to Bantry on Saturday morning for the next round of the National Cup. The game exploded into life with a great ball by Noah Quinn playing in Jack Molumphy who lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper only to see an unfortunate bounce take the ball away from a certain goal. Bay Rovers immediately went up the other end and a clinical finish put them one up. Bay Rovers had most the the possession for the first 15 minutes, but a great break from Danny Clancy set up an opportunity for Jack Molumphy who made no mistake. This settled the lads and they started to dominate possession and territory. 1-1 at half time.
Lismore dominated possession and territory for most of the second half but couldn’t get the breakthrough, before a long ball was well finished by Bay Rovers with 5mins remaining. To the lads credit they continued to play great football and a flick on by Jack Hamilton was chased down by Noah Quinn for the equaliser and off to extra time we went.
Extra time followed the same pattern as the 2nd half, and after controlling the game we once again got caught on the break with Bay Rovers taking the lead with 3 minutes left. The lads made one last push and a great ball into the box looked certain to result in an equaliser before an unfortunate bounce took the shot over the bar. A massive effort from all the lads and their performances deserved a better result.
Thanks to all the parents who made the long journey and best of luck to Bay Rovers in the next round
